Hardness Tester Uji kekerasan atau hardness test merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengetahui kekuatan atau ketahanan suatu (bahan) material. Sedangkan kekerasan itu sendiri (hardness) ialah salah satu sifat mekanik dari suatu material selain sifat fisik dan teknologik yang dimilikinya. Dari berbagai referensi Rumus untuk pengujian kekerasan ada 4 yaitu : (1) Brinnel (HB / BHN), (2) Rockwell (HR / RHN), (3) Vikers (HV /VHN) dan (4) Micro Hardness (knoop hardness). Uji keras merupakan pengujian paling efektif karena dapat dengan mudah mengetahui gambaran sifat mekanik suatu material. Meskipun pengukuran hanya dilakukan pada satu titik atau daerah tertentu. Nilai kekerasan yang ditampilkannya cukup valid untuk menyatakan kekuatan suatu material. Dengan demikian, material dapat dengan mudah digolongkan sebagai material ulet atau getas.
